MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling in King of Prussia

Microneedling uses very fine needles to create controlled micro channels in the skin, prompting its natural repair process. It is a skin treatment, not an injectable, and it is often chosen for texture and tone.

Erica Otto, BSN, RN, offers microneedling on its own or with an optional add on: PRP, a neuromodulator, or a hyaluronic acid serum blend, chosen around your skin and goals.

What Microneedling Can Address

  • Uneven or rough skin texture
  • The look of enlarged pores
  • Fine lines
  • Some types of acne scarring
  • Dull or uneven tone

When It May Not Be the Right Time

Microneedling is not appropriate for everyone. Erica reviews your history first, including things like:

  • Active breakouts, infection, or irritation in the treatment area
  • Recent use of isotretinoin (Accutane)
  • Pregnancy
  • A history of keloid or raised scarring

Optional Add Ons

Microneedling can be done on its own. Erica may also suggest one of these add ons, applied during treatment, depending on your skin and goals.

PRP

PRP (platelet rich plasma) is prepared from a small sample of your own blood and applied to the skin during treatment. It is often paired with microneedling for texture and scarring. Research on the added benefit is promising but still developing, and Erica will talk through realistic expectations.

Neuromodulator

A small amount of neuromodulator is applied during microneedling, an approach some clients choose for skin quality and the look of pores. Using a neuromodulator this way is off label, meaning it is not an FDA approved use. Erica will explain what that means and whether it fits your goals.

Hyaluronic Acid Serum Blend

A hydrating hyaluronic acid serum blend applied during treatment. It is a good fit for clients who want added hydration and prefer not to have blood drawn. Erica will explain what is in your blend and why.

What to Expect

  1. Talk through your skin goals and current skincare.
  2. Review your medical history to confirm microneedling is appropriate.
  3. Decide whether to add PRP, a neuromodulator, or a hyaluronic acid serum blend.
  4. Topical numbing is applied for comfort. For PRP, a small blood draw is taken while the numbing takes effect.
  5. Treatment is performed, followed by soothing aftercare.
  6. Review aftercare, sun protection, and your plan for the next sessions.

Most plans include 3 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

Microneedling Questions

Does microneedling hurt?

Topical numbing is applied first. Most people describe a scratchy or vibrating sensation, and Erica checks in throughout.

Is there downtime?

Redness similar to a mild sunburn is common for a day or a few days, and some people notice light dryness or flaking as the skin settles. Erica reviews what to expect for your skin and how to care for it.

When will I see results?

Skin may look brighter within a week or two, but collagen builds over months, so changes in texture usually become more noticeable across a series of treatments.

How many sessions will I need?

Most plans include 3 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Erica may adjust that based on your skin and goals.

Do I need an add on?

No. Microneedling can be done on its own. Add ons are optional, and Erica will tell you honestly whether one is likely to help your goals.

What is PRP?

PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. A small blood sample is processed to concentrate the platelets, which are then applied to the skin during microneedling.

Is the neuromodulator add on off label?

Yes. Applying a neuromodulator during microneedling is not an FDA approved use. Erica will explain the approach, its limits, and alternatives so you can decide.

Is microneedling the same as filler or Botox?

No. Microneedling works on the skin’s surface quality. Filler adds structure or volume, and wrinkle relaxers soften lines caused by movement.

Can I combine microneedling with Botox or filler?

Often yes, but usually not on the same day in the same area. Erica can plan the timing so each treatment heals properly. See all services.
